Iran's supreme leader expresses gratitude to college students in the US for their alignment with what he deems the correct side of history.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, commended American college students for their participation in protests against the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, stating that they were "standing on the right side of history" in a recent post. This message was part of a comprehensive letter penned by the Supreme Leader to American college students, praising their efforts in anti-Israel demonstrations.

"You have now formed a branch of the Resistance Front and have begun an honorable struggle in the face of your government's ruthless pressure – a government which openly supports the usurper and brutal Zionist regime," he wrote in the letter.

The supreme leader asserted that following the World Wars, America and Britain facilitated the influx of terrorists into the region. "After World War II, the capitalist Zionist network gradually transported several thousand terrorists to this territory with assistance from the British government," Khamenei conveyed. "These terrorists launched attacks on cities and villages, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands and forcing many to flee to neighboring countries. They seized control of homes, businesses, and agricultural lands, establishing the state of Israel on usurped Palestinian territory." He further stated that the "global Zionist elite" have branded the "courageous and humane resistance" on college campuses as "terrorism." "The global Zionist elite, which holds significant ownership or influence over most US and European media corporations through funding and bribery, has unjustly labeled this courageous and humane resistance movement as 'terrorism'," he emphasized.

Khamenei also applauded professors and staff at American universities who were participating in the anti-Israel protests while saying that he "empathizes" with students for their "perseverance" against the police and the U.S. government.

"The support and solidarity of your professors is a significant and consequential development," he wrote. "This can offer some measure of comfort in the face of your government's police brutality and the pressures it is exerting on you. I too, am among those who empathize with you young people, and value your perseverance."

Iran's supreme leader's comments came after pro-Palestine protests erupted across U.S. college campuses in April 2024, as part of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
