Renowned GOP strategist and CNN commentator, Alice Stewart, passes away at the age of 58.

 

Alice Stewart, a veteran GOP adviser and CNN political commentator, has passed away at the age of 58. Her body was discovered outdoors in a northern Virginia neighborhood on Saturday morning, according to law enforcement sources cited by CNN. Authorities indicated that there was no suspicion of foul play and suggested that a medical emergency was likely the cause.

Born on March 11, 1966, in Atlanta, Stewart commenced her professional journey as a local reporter in Georgia before relocating to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she took on the role of a news anchor. Subsequently, she served as the communications director for then-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee's office and later for his 2008 presidential campaign. Stewart also held positions as the communications director for several GOP presidential contenders, including former Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, and Senator Ted Cruz.


In 2016, Stewart transitioned into a role as a political commentator for CNN, where she made her final appearance on Friday's episode of "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."


Following the news of Stewart's passing, her colleagues and political associates expressed shock and sorrow, highlighting her remarkable kindness and intellect.


In response to the tragic news, CNN CEO Mark Thompson conveyed his condolences to the staff, describing Stewart as a cherished friend and colleague known for her political acumen and compassionate nature.
